There are 663 million people in the world living without access to clean water. Let's change that!
Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink - even the water in our toilets is clean!
At Summit our mission is to Excel and Lead. We do this in many ways. One way is by being good citizens and that means globally too! Third graders are meeting our mission by synergizing to apply academic principals to real world problems, like the water crisis. We are launching a campaign through an organization called charity:water. We will set a goal for how much money we would like to raise, research the issue, and host a Loose Change Carnival to meet our campaign goal.
Please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
On our last day of school, our third graders took a "walk to water." Partners took turns walking with gallon milk jugs filled with water. Students got a small feel for what it feels like to walk (a short distance) with life-giving water. Students got a little thirsty, tired, and hot, but they learned how important it could be for a person to carry water for their family and just how challenging that task can be. It was a great way to end our unit on the water crisis. Thank you again for all your support. With you're help, we were able to be Changemakers in our world.

Way to rock the Clean Water Project, 3rd Graders!!!!
Wow! Thanks to you, we are having a great campaign. Students have learned the value of seeing the world through someone else's eyes and it has given them a whole new perspective about the world they live in. Some have been inspired to give up their birthdays for clean water or pursue other altruistic endeavors. Thank you for the role you played in not only giving clean water to those who need it, but helping teach our third graders about empathy.
