When's the last time you went a day without access to clean water? I can't name the last time, either. Yet 3/4 of a billion people in the world don't have access to clean, safe water every day. That's why this year for my birthday, I'm hoping to put the spotlight on helping them through charity: water. See, charity: water brings clean water to those who need it, and 100% of the money they receive in donations go to helping install clean water projects in developing countries.

You'd be surprised how little it takes to make a positive impact in the lives of others through donations. Any amount, big or small, would mean a lot, not simply to me but to the 10% of the world you'll be helping. Not to sound like an infomercial, but seriously, even giving a dollar would be better than not giving at all.

If you're struggling to find the motivation to help, I ask you to please consider giving up one of your drinks for the day and to pass on the money to a clean water charity. Think about the price of a soda, a coffee, a beer, and how you could go one day without a drink, and with it help bring a life-changing water project to hundreds or thousands of people. We get many opportunities every day to drink water; by giving one of your drinks up you can help lift the burden off of those in need.

So, this year don't expect a birthday party in my honor. If you'd like to wish me a happy birthday, or celebrate with me, please instead consider donating to my campaign. Any amount you can pledge would mean a lot to me, but more importantly, it'll mean a lot to any one of the 800 million people living without access to the most basic of needs.
