I’m Arav, and for the 5th year in a row I am giving up birthday presents and asking that people donate to my campaign instead (plus, read till the end to find out about something special I'm going to do). All that money will help the folks at charity:water build water pumps and wells that will bring clean water to entire villages, improving the lives of children and their families, maybe even saving them, and putting a smile on their face. One of the science projects we did at school this year was to build a water filter, so I know how difficult it is to build these critical machines.

Last year as part of my campaign, I created a piece of art that incorporated the names of every person who donated to my campaign, and then I went to the charity:water office in New York City and presented it to them to recognize the amazing work they do. You can see a video of the art work and my visit to their office at https://youtu.be/W5rlSnxy42c. That was so much fun that I’m making another pledge for this years campaign. This year, I’m going to write a poem about the water crisis and charity:water, and will incorporate the names of everyone who donates into it. At the end of the campaign, I will read it to all of you (Dad wants me to sing it, but no!). No promises on whether it will be good or not, but it will probably be funny.
