Water has always been my beverage of choice and people know how long my showers take. Water is so vital to all of our lives and our access to it has been taken for granted. There are people living in the world today who have to walk for hours to get their water, and when they finally get there, the water they are getting is dirty. How is it possible that small children in the United States can have cell phones, but children the same age in developing nations don't have clean water to drink? Well, the good news is, we can change that. This year, I am giving up my birthday in hopes that we can change peoples lives. I am turning 19 on July 29th, 2011 and my birthday wish is that people will donate 19 dollars to charity:water. The entirety of your donation will go directly to funding clean water projects, and the goal is to raise enough money to give 50 people the gift of water this year. So go ahead, skip the gift cards and cake, because this year...we are going to make a difference.
