Why I'm running for clean water

Roughly 60 years ago in Eritrea, my aunts would walk miles from their village to collect drinkable water for their family, including their brother—my Dad. Fast forward to November 3rd, 2024, and I'll be running the New York Marathon on behalf of my favorite charity, Charity: Water, a nonprofit dedicated to building clean water wells in developing countries like Eritrea.

Today, 703 million people, mostly in rural areas, live without access to clean drinking water. This especially impacts women and girls who are responsible for fetching water, as they often sacrifice receiving an education to provide for their families. Additionally, dirty water carries diseases. More people die from unsafe water and poor sanitation than from war, and children are 20 times more likely to be impacted by this.

You can help change this by donating here.

And if you're in NYC on November 3rd, join my friends, family, and sore legs for post-race festivities!!
