Help bring clean water to 100 villages in Orissa, one of the poorest states in India.

Charity:Water has joined with local partner, Gram Vikas, to break the cycle of poverty by providing access to high-quality water solutions. Their approach demands a high level of community participation -- every single family, without exceptions, must adopt the Gram Vikas model of total sanitation before the village can receive clean water.
Each family must construct their own toilet and bathing facility before the water system is built. The community then comes together to build a water tower which stores water from a reliable source. At which point, each household gets three taps with a piped water supply — one in the kitchen, bathroom and shower.

I met Scott Harrison, the founder of Charity:Water, just a few days after Hurricane Sandy hit. We spent the day walking up and down flights of stairs in the projects in Chelsea clearing out and re-stocking refrigerators for elderly people who had been stuck up in their apartments without electricity or plumbing. If that doesn't vouch for the founder of this fantastic organization, I don't know what will!

Charity:Water is a non-profit bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 800 million people on this planet still don't have access to clean drinking water.

Private donors cover the operating costs so that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water project costs in the field, and charity: water will prove every single dollar.
