Last year, I spent my 31st birthday in Ethiopia with charity: water. We used the money, your money, raised from last year's September birthday campaign to drill a well (photo above) for a community that, until then, had been without clean water. Being in Africa and actually visiting communities without clean water was a sobering, unforgettable, life-changing experience.

Now, I'm a year older, hopefully wiser, and definitely changed. With another year comes another dollar added to the amount I'm asking you to donate. Another dollar that will go directly to changing lives by providing water. Clean water. The need is basic. The solution is simple. Water = life.

In less than three years charity: water has provided clean, safe water for almost one million people. Almost. A million is a lot, but a billion is even more. One billion. That's the number of people who live on this planet without the luxury of clean, safe water.
