Dear friends,

For my birthday I want to do something really special to celebrate!! This year I am giving up my birthday for charity: water, an organization dedicated to donating 100% of the money raised to fund water projects in developing nations. $20 can give someone clean, safe water for the rest of their life. charity: water is changing how entire villages live each day, so that women and children don't have to walk for miles, most of their day to find dirty, contaminated water to carry back in heavy jugs to give to their family. The water they collect has so much harmful bacteria in it, that it causes their family to get very sick and in many cases the water they drink is so polluted, it kills them. We can help these communities to have safe, clean water. We can help people survive, develop and become more sustainable just by having clean, safe water.

The other day I was at a hotel that wanted to charge $9 for a bottle of Fiji water. It's very sad to think people would pay that for a bottle of water, when $20 can give someone clean water for THE REST OF THEIR LIFE!!! We are incredibly blessed to have been born in a place where we don't have to walk for miles everyday searching for life's biggest necessity. We are very blessed to have the opportunity to help others.

IMAGINE if you didn't have running water from a faucet, IMAGINE if you had to walk for MILES everyday to get water for your family, IMAGINE if the water you walked MILES for everyday was dirty, IMAGINE if it was the same water animals bathe, live and take care of their business in, IMAGINE if the water you walked MILES to collect, in jugs that almost broke your back carrying, contained harmful bacteria (and who knows what else), IMGAINE HAVING TO GIVE THAT DIRTY WATER TO YOUR FAMILY TO DRINK KNOWING THAT IT WAS BAD FOR THEM, IMAGINE HAVING NO CHOICE BUT TO DRINK THE DIRTY WATER KNOWING IT WOULD MAKE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SICK AND EVEN KILL THEM.

MOST OF US DON'T EVEN THINK TWICE ABOUT WATER AS WE GRAB OUR SMARTWATERS AT THE STORE OR OUT OF THE FRIDGE.... OR FILL OUR BRITA CONTAINERS FROM OUR RUNNING FAUCETS OF WHAT WE THINK OF AS "DIRTY" WATER...

What if you had to walk for MILES to collect DIRTY WATER??
