We learnt that some children around the world do not have clean water taps in their homes! Or even outside their house! Maybe not even in their whole village! Can you imagine that? Not being able to have water whenever you want?!
Instead, they and their families have to walk 3 miles/5km (on average) to collect water from other places, like muddy or dried up streams. Then they have to carry the water all the way home! Now they can wash themselves, wash their food, cook and hydrate... Until the collected water runs out and they have to do that long water walk all over again.
Sometimes people can become ill drinking the dirty water they can collect. And sometimes they can’t go to school because they have to walk so far to collect water instead.
So we decided we had to help!! We set ourselves the challenge to walk 3 miles/5km on 24th March 2024 (which feels like a long way for us because we are only 5 and 6) and hope you will sponsor us to complete the challenge. We want to raise a big pot of money that Charity Water can use to build fresh water taps or wells in villages, so other 5 and 6 year olds around the world can just concentrate on being kids!

Since charity: water was founded in 2006, we’ve been chasing one ambitious goal: ending the global water crisis. Since then, we’ve funded 138,003 water projects, serving over 17 million people.
From the beginning, we’ve made a few promises:
100% of the money donated to charity: water goes directly to funding clean water projects. Private donors cover our operating costs, which means every penny of every dollar can go where it’s needed most.
We don’t expect you to take our word for it. Our next-level commitment to tracking and transparency means we don’t just tell you you’re having an impact. We show you, with GPS coordinates and photos of the exact project(s) you’ve helped fund.
We don’t just drop in, build a well and disappear. When we provide water for a community, we want the impact to be for good — which means we work closely with local partners, remaining invested in the integrity of projects for the long haul.
We couldn’t be more proud of you! What a great big heart you have to want to help others! Don’t ever stop trying to make the world better! Love you, our son xx
Gwaaaannnn Arthur! Love Harriet, Dom, Edie and Martha xx
