Three years ago, my dad brought me to a conference on philanthropy, which featured various organizations concerned with the lack of accessible, safe water around the world. As the only 14 year old girl and the only person with no particular agenda, I kept my eyes open to everyone around me, and noticed Scott Harrison, the founder of charity: water, an organization that was less than a year old at the time. I listened to the stories Scott told of his travels to Africa, where he witnessed children walking miles to get water that would often lead to disease, and heard of all the ideas he had for this new project to solve these problems. In addition, I watched as the people around him at the conference became more and more concerned for the lack of clean water around the world, and increasingly interested in what he wanted to do about it.

With the launch of the Water for Schools program, now was the perfect time to get Fieldston involved.

On October 1st, we started our campaign by having Lane Wood come to speak to Fieldston from charity:water. Between this amazing and inspiring presentation and the end of our campaign, we sold bracelets and footbands, had a Walk for Water around the track at school and partied for water at "water:fest." Throughout, our entire community gave so much excitement and energy to this project.

With all of your support for our campaign and the charity:water mission, we more than doubled our goal for this semester's campaign. Bringing our community for a great cause showed that we were capable of a lot more than we thought, and did something hundreds of people will benefit from.
