Why is water an essential resource?
Dear Brown School Teachers and Students,
I recently read the book Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park. It's about Salva Dut, an 11 year old who doesn't have access to clean water. He later founded Water for South Sudan, a company that raises money for South Sudan. After reading that book, I learned that water is important to everyone around the globe. I would like to raise $10,000 to support charitywater.org.
I was heartbroken when I found out that in Africa alone, 367 million people do not have access to clean water. How can we get this number down? 1 in 5 children under the age of 5 die from a water related illness. Families won’t need to worry about their children getting parasites or disease when their is a well in their village. Do you really want this to happen?
According to seametrics.com, By 2025, an estimated 1.8 billion people will live in areas plagued by water scarcity, with two-thirds of the world’s population living in water-stressed regions. We can change that with just a few bucks. $20 gives water to 1 person for 20 years. Imagine what $10,000 would do!
With your donation to charitywater.org, we can build wells for people in need. One well can give water to over 300 people for 20 years. Parents can also send their child to school because they do not have to get water from the pond every day. Imagine kids all around the world getting a better education because of your donation. Start a fundraiser. If people donate, we can give to children in need. Together we can make a difference.
Please donate to help the ? of Africa that does not have access to clean drinking water.
