I'm giving up. My birthday, that is. Let me explain why. I don't need any more stuff. I have everything that's important to me. I have a wonderful wife, friends, family and life's essentials: food, air, a home, liberty, and yes, water. All I do is turn the faucet on at home and there it is, but for others in the world, it's a luxury that they have to struggle for every day.

Almost a billion people in the world are living without clean water and thousands will die this week alone from diseases acquired from contaminated water. The lucky ones won't, but still have to walk hours each day to get dirty water for their families.

This year I do have a birthday wish, I'm asking you to make a gift, not to me, but to someone you will never meet, someone whose life could be changed forever by your act of compassion and generosity. It doesn't take much to have a huge impact. For example, on average, every $20 can give one person (or family) clean water. If you can make a gift at that level (or more), that's awesome, but any amount is welcome, it all adds up.
