Dear family & friends,

I'm about to turn a year older. As in prior years I'd like to use my bday to raise funds for charity:water. Their mission is simple: to build clean water projects in less developed parts of this world.

Why funding clean water projects? Think about what it means to drink dirty water that comes from a river, lake or muddy hole in the ground: drinking such water often results in sickness which in turn keeps children away from school, parents away from work etc. These sources of dirty water are also often miles away; obviously it's an unproductive use of time to walk miles to get water that might harm one's health. So it's evident that there are a lot of positive spill over effects by providing access to clean water.

As this is now my third fund raising campaign for charity:water you are probably familiar with my request: any sum would be greatly appreciated but I thought I'd stick to my approach in prior years and ask you for $34 (a $ for each year of my life). And - obviously - I wouldn't want to introduce a cap in case you'd consider giving more.

100% of everything we raise will directly fund water projects. And when those projects are finished, charity:water will send us proof in pictures and GPS coordinates, so we can see the actual people and communities we impacted.
