Friends,
On Sunday I will turn 27...which would not ordinarily call for any sort of large celebration, given many would not consider it a pinnacle or monumental moment in one's life. Yet in many people's lives, living till the age of 27 would be considered a miracle.
See the truth is that 663 million individuals live without access to clean water. That is 3x the population of Brazil and 2x that of the US. It's 1 in 10 individuals in the world. Most of these individuals only survive by traveling long distances (ex.10 miles) on a daily basis to get water, which just so happens to be contaminated more often than not. Dirty water leads to many diseases which in fact kills more individuals yearly (near 1,200,000) than all forms of violence including wars. 43% of those deaths happen to children under 5 years old. That's 511,000 precious little kids that die each year from a very fixable issue.
So what's my goal?
On my 27th birthday, with the help of all of you I want us to provide clean water to 100 individuals. Donating just $30 provides clean water to an individual who has never had access to clean water in his or her life...ever. Just $30 changes someone's life, helps prevent that individual from acquiring a disease, and may save his or her life.
Ultimately our goal is to raise $3000.
I was convinced to do something amazing (and crazy) on my 27th birthday this Sunday: compete in a 70.3 Ironman. And now I hope to convince all of you to join me in doing something special and truly impactful: to change the lives of 100 individuals.
Whether you donate $1 or $1000, every donation goes 100% to funding this project. 100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
I'll be swimming, cycling, and running (and most likely struggling) this Sunday for those 100 individuals. Hopefully you'll have them in mind as well and donate.
Help me help 100.
Hugs and kisses,
Nima
good luck
