Charity:Water CEO, Scott Harrison talks a lot about caritas and charity in his book Thirst. I finished the book a few weeks ago and whole heartedly recommend it to anyone. It is an incredibly inspiring journey of his life, which helped him start this amazing charity.

Charity:Water is different from a lot of other charities because it gives 100% of the money raised to building wells, and educating people about clean water (they even educate them on how to maintain their wells) instead of using a portion of the money raised for overhead funds (office supplies, employee salary ect..). Charity:Water has a separate list of donors that contribute each month to their overhead cost, making it possible for them to do some truly amazing things with the money that's been given by ordinary people like you and me.

Charity:Water's 100% model is one of the reasons I love them, and I hope it's a reason you do to... If you want more reasons, buy Thirst. :)

Last year for Christmas and my birthday I started a campaign with charity:water, I asked for people to donate instead of giving me gifts of any kind... It's a common practice at charity:Water to donate your birthday as a fundraiser (you should totally look into donating yours!) last year my goal was 350$, and I met my goal, plus some. This year my goal is 550$!!!

I know it's an expensive time of year, a busy one and a stressful one, but anything you are willing to give is an incredible gift, not just to me but to the people we will eventually help together.

I'm already getting updates from my previous campaign of where the money raised is going, and it's so amazing to actually see what your money is being used for. I look forward to sharing where the money from this campaign will be used with you, thank you in advance for your love generosity and support.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
