goal
On September 20, I'm turning 35. And this year, I don't want presents or drinks. I want clean water.
Women in many parts of the world walk for hours every day, up and down mountains, just to collect water from rivers. The hours they spend walking to collect water are hours unavailable for other work, for dancing, for learning to read, and for teaching their children to read. Moreover the water they collect can make them horribly sick.
Will you give $35 or $135?
100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects in the Rwanda, and when those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made.
I can't think of a better birthday gift. Please join me!

Water is the new oil. The shortages are going to become dramatic, in large part since our Western eating habits, now spreading to rest of the world, cause 600 gallons of water to be used for each quarter pound hamburger (not counting the cheese), and 2,400 gallons for each pound of meat. Now, Third World countries are using their water to raise livestock for export, when there is not enough water for their own people. (And on top of all that, livestock causes more global warming than does all of transportation!) And no ones cares it would seem, but perhaps the folks giving here are at least becoming aware of it all. Good for you, Nancy, and a belated Happy Birthday (I am late for everything these days I am afraid!). Charlie
