I recently donated $50 to CHARITY WATER via a request on my Facebook page, and some months later was sent an email about various fund raising campaigns, one being to pledge a birthday.
I have been so fortunate to have led a privileged life and at this stage have more than I need or want and decided that this was a wonderful and worthwhile idea. Although I have not been keen on the idea of finally accepting that I am officially about to become a 'senior' I loved the idea of giving this landmark birthday some value to others so in need compared to me.
I sincerely hope that the thought of helping me to help others receive the simple gift of fresh water, which is something we take for granted, will enable me to reach and surpass my goal.
Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.
