Because 1 billion people don't have clean drinking water.

On June 14 I turned 30. I’m not usually one to ask for birthday gifts but this year is a big one and I wanted to celebrate in a more meaningful way: helping kids around the world get clean water.

California is experiencing the largest drought in decades. But we're a drop in the bucket. Millions of kids around the world don't live to see their 5th birthday because they don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. We can change that.

My friend Scott at charity: water has challenged me, friends and the Everlane community to raise $30,000 to help 1,000 people gain access to clean water for a year. Full disclosure: I don't have enough friends to get there, so I'm hoping you'll tell a few of yours. I’m starting off the donations with $500 and Everlane is helping with some custom tees.
