Because $30 is all it takes to bring clean water to one person.

As many of you do (or maybe don't) know, I'm not big on birthdays but this year I'm 30 and I've decided to celebrate! Not by asking for cards or gifts but by asking my family and friends to give the gift of clean water to some of the 748 million people world wide without access to it.

Why water? Because it affects everything. Among many other advantages, bringing clean water to a community reduces disease and allows women and children (who are often the ones tasked with water collection) the opportunity to pursue other opportunities, such as education, with the 3+ hours a day they would normally spend walking miles and miles to get water that may or may not even be clean.

I'm asking for my age in dollars, or whatever you are able to give, from everyone I know. It takes roughly $30 to provide one person with access to clean water and 100% of every dollar you donate to my birthday campaign will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Roughly 21 months after this campaign ends, charity: water will provide GPS coordinates, photos, and more details so you can see exactly how and where every dollar you've given ended up in the field, helping to bring clean water to people around the world.
