Hi! I am using my upcoming birthday to raise money for charity:water. I first learned about this incredible organization when Scott Harrison came to speak at a Zappos event. Scott's incredible story inspired me to get a little involved. We are so lucky to not have to worry about where our next clean glass of water comes from (especially me; I'm ALWAYS thirsty!). Everyone deserves clean water as a basic human right. You and I can't raise enough money to end the problem - but what we can do is take a small number of people, and change their lives dramatically for the better. On average, it costs charity:water $30 to give one person in a developing country permanent access to clean water ... just THIRTY DOLLARS. That's incredible.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
