Let's provide water to 40 villages!

Last summer, Maddie sold lemonade 11 times. Her lemonade stand, Thirst, was located in Grandview park in Vancouver, BC. She would typically sell all of her hand-squeezed lemonade within an hour. She surpassed her goal of providing water to over 150 people.

The Charity: Water team is incredible and made Maddie feel part of their family. She was invited to their annual gala in NYC where she met a wonderful and inspiring group of campaigners, as well as the amazing team at Charity: Water.

Scott Harrison, the founder of Charity: Water, came to Vancouver in February 2015 to speak at Hootsuite. He invited Maddie to join him on stage during his talk. During this visit, she came up with her latest campaign:

She will take the day off school to walk with her Charity: Water jerry can for 3 hours to go get water and then walk 3 hours home.

Afterwards, when she was telling her dad of this plan, her mom explained how strenuous and boring walking for 6 hours with a heavy jerry would be. Her response:

"But they do it everyday. It's only one day, so it will be worth it"

So, on Friday, May 28th, Maddie will walk from Grandview Park, through downtown Vancouver, to Jericho Beach with her yellow Charity: Water jerry can. She will get water from the pond before walking home again. She has a wonderful group of friends that are joining her on her walk.

The campaign launched on March 22, 2015, World Water Day. It was also her dad's 40th birthday. As a gift to him, she has set her fundraising goal at providing water to 40 villages. Over the course of her campaign she will learn, and teach others, about 40 villages that experience difficulty with water quality and access.
