The women collecting water in the Sahel region don't have time to rest. Help me bring them a little R&R.

During the hotter part of the year, the average temperature in the Sahel region of West Africa is more than 110 degrees.
For women here, not having access to clean water means hours of painful and exhausting work. Many of them walk miles each day just to reach the 100-year-old hole in the ground where they collect water. And they make that trip four or five times. Not only is that water contaminated and dirt-colored, but it has to be pulled up by hand, one bucket at a time.
The women of the Sahel have no time to rest, so I won't either.
As part of my campaign I pledge to:
-Take 10,000 steps each day. This is higher than average, but it's the recommended amount for an active & healthy lifestyle. It's only equivalent to about 5 miles, far less than many women walk daily to collect water.
-Raise $3,000 for charity: water's September campaign. That's $0.01/step for the entire month of September.
-Stay standing on the subway until I reach my campaign goal. I won't sit down on my groggy 40 minute ride to work at 7 am, or on my 40 minute rush hour ride home around 6. Did I mention I work at a rooftop bar on Saturday nights? Well even when coming home after a 10 hour shift, while attempting to decipher the ever-changing weekend subway service changes, I won't be seated.
Congratulations Kathleen for taking a stand to help!
Good luck, Kathleen!
