At Big Omaha 2011, charity:water's CEO/founder Scott Harrison spoke and it was one of the most moving experiences of my life. Since then I've watched charity:water explode, bought charity:water merch, and contributed to a few campaigns.
Now I want to join millions of others who have given up their birthday for charity:water.
On September 16, I'm turning 23. My twitter handle is @jordanjohnson23, so it's basically another shot at a golden birthday for me. As cool as it was turning 16 on my golden birthday, I have a feeling this one should be even better.
So all I'm asking is that, if you'd like to, you donate some money to this campaign. Whether it's $5, $23, $23,000, I don't care.
The other cool thing about this is that my birthday happens to fall into the same month as charity:water's birthday. This year their September campaign is focused on Rwanda. Here's what they have to say about it:
Women and children in Rwanda walk for hours every day, up and down mountains, just to collect water from rivers. And the worst part? The water they collect can make them really sick.
Terrible right? Well, we can actually do something about it. Just $65 can give someone in Rwanda clean water.
The best part is that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects in the Rwanda, and when those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can't think of a better birthday gift. Join me!
Happy Birthday!

Cool to see Jordan's example in giving up his birthday for a worthy cause.
