Even after years of running track & cross-country, I didn’t think there was anything that could get me to willingly run a marathon. Then, I started working for charity: water.

In the past three years, I’ve watched supporters run their hearts out for our mission. I’ve cheered from the sidelines and donated to their fundraisers.

This year, I’m joining them.

Why, exactly? Because in the past three years, I’ve become increasingly aware that while I get to decide whether or not I go for a morning run, 771 million people around the world have their mornings decided for them. They wake up and they walk for water—putting in their own miles just to collect a basic need.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We know how to solve the water crisis, and I believe we can—together. I may be running these 26.2 miles solo, but my larger goal requires a team effort.

As I train, I’d love to invite you to help me raise $6,000.

$6,000 is enough to fund a well for an entire community. It’s enough to ensure clean water is mere steps—not miles—away from home. And when the project is complete, we’ll all receive GPS coordinates and photos of the water project we funded together.
