My 24th birthday is coming up, and this year I've decided to do a birthday campaign for a good cause.
Why water? The facts around the water crisis are pretty staggering. A billion people in the world (1 in 7) are living without clean water. Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease.
I picked charity: water because of its track record, its transparent and effective communications, and its 100% model where all donations go directly the costs of freshwater projects in developing nations (other funding covers operating costs).
For the price of about 2 drinks at a Hollywood or Vegas bar, you can provide one person with safe, clean drinking water, The math is simple - a water project that costs ~$5K can provide clean water to a village of ~250 people.
