On January 15, I'm turning 31.
My girlfriends and I aren't thrilled about being over 30. It's a scary decade, compared to the fun, frivolous and carefree 20s. It's time to be all responsible-like, fight slowing metabolisms (but I hate salad!), use wrinkle cream (ugh seriously?), start sending Christmas cards (ok maybe next year).
But... as they say, these are #firstworldproblems. And that means that they are very, very trivial compared to real problems. Third world, life or death problems.
It's a luxury to make it to 31 years old when millions of people don't live to see their fifth birthdays. And why? Because they don't have access to clean, safe water.
I'm asking for donations from everyone I know -- because every single penny of the money raised for charity: water goes directly to fund clean water projects in developing nations. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll be able to see the communities we've helped!
My goal is to give up my birthday this year, and instead celebrate life by raising $3100 for charity: water.
Instead of worrying about the trivialities of being over 30, I'm putting my efforts toward helping others in far, far greater need. Please join me!
Happy belated 31st!
Happy belated! I'm a big fan of Charity Water. Nice pick.
