On October 2nd, I turned 40. At first, this seemed surreal, even daunting. But then I found out that millions of people don't live to see their fifth birthdays, because they don't have access to clean, safe water. So I'm not weirded out by turning 40 anymore. In fact, I'm celebrating my birthday like never before.
I'm asking for $15 from everyone I know — and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund clean water projects in developing nations. In exchange, I will sing whatever song you like (that's available at my karaoke spots) and dedicate the song to you on YouTube. Just put the name of the song in your comment field when you donate!
My goal is to raise $5000 in my 40th year, to provide clean, safe water for 250 people. Please join me to make this birthday count. Thank you!

What a terrific idea. I am delighted to contribute (even though you "Facebook-fired" me recently). As for a song, my first choice is, of course, the Spider-Man theme from the old animated show. If they don't have that, howsabout "Mack the Knife"? Happy birthday, Baly!
