Water changes everything. This September, change everything for Sahel.

I spent this summer at charity: water, an organization that aims to bring clean water to every single person on the planet. Right now, 800 million people do not have access to clean and safe drinking water. In more real terms, that’s about 1 in 9 people, so we’re talking about a pretty big problem.

The exciting thing is that this is a solvable problem. Both through traditional solutions like hand-dug or drilled wells and innovative methods like filtration systems, charity: water and its partners bring clean water to communities that desperately need it, and that water changes everything. It means regaining the time spent collecting water and having the opportunity to start small businesses. It means improved health and better sanitation. It means safety for girls who previously traveled alone to distant water points.
Here’s where we come in. Every year charity: water celebrates the birthday of the organization in the September Campaign, and this year’s campaign will enable charity: water to start work in the Sahel region of Mali and Niger.

I’m fundraising for this year’s campaign, and I can’t do it without you. That’s not just an expression - I really mean it. My goal is to raise enough to fund an entire water project in Sahel, which means $10,000. Every Monday in September, I'll be carrying a full jerry can wherever I go to raise awareness and to remind myself of the reality of the water crisis.

And here’s my favorite part: at charity: water 100% of donations go directly to the field to fund water projects, so every cent of your money will go straight to Sahel.
