There are 748 million people in the world living without access to clean water. Let's change that!
Experts say that in order to provide water, basic health, and nutrition to everyone in the world, the estimate is that it would cost somewhere around $20 Billion...which is what Americans spend in ONE year on ICE CREAM.
This year, for my birthday, I want to help those who can't help themselves. I'm asking all of my friends to donate $30 for my 30th birthday.
I recently learned that 1 in 9 people around the world don't have access to clean, safe drinking water, and I'm doing something about it. When I was 21, I learned about "mitzvoths" and it impacted me so deeply that I had it tattooed on my right foot. I often get asked what it means, and then what it means to me, in my life.
Mitzvoth means commands--when we do the commands of God, when we do good deeds, we are helping to repair and restore the world. The ancient rabbis taught that it's less about what we say with our mouths, but what we do with our actions--that's how we live the best possible way to live--that's how we change the world.
My birthday is almost here. I'm not usually excited about getting older, but this year I'm really thankful to have lived another happy, healthy year. I recently learned that millions of kids around the world don't live to see their fifth birthday because they don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. We can help change that.
I'm asking for my age in dollars from everyone I know. Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 21 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.
Help me reach my goal. Please donate to my birthday campaign!
