Water. So beautiful to look at, to bring calm to the mind by an oasis, lift to a surfboard in Tahiti, and the quenching of a prodigious thirst of a marathon runner. Water is also an invisible type of footprint, thought much like a mirage unaware, being felt all over the world.
With the lowest consumption coming from South Africa at 59 Billion to China’s whopping 1207 Billion cubic meters, the planet we all share is now in crisis. According to the UN, by 2025, two-thirds of the world’s people will live in countries with high water stress or scarcity. Eighty percent of all illness in the developing world is related to the lack of it, with unsafe access killing 200 children every hour.
In the end, water connects us to each other, to everyone and everything in the Universe. Tomorrow a mirage could turn into a reality, making this world a better one. To make it happen, we deeply believe the time has come to take the first step together, and these photographs show the living beauty of water, bringing the awareness of the magnitude of this desperate issue, touching us all.

Since charity: water was founded in 2006, we’ve been chasing one ambitious goal: ending the global water crisis. Since then, we’ve funded 138,003 water projects, serving over 17 million people.
From the beginning, we’ve made a few promises:
100% of the money donated to charity: water goes directly to funding clean water projects. Private donors cover our operating costs, which means every penny of every dollar can go where it’s needed most.
We don’t expect you to take our word for it. Our next-level commitment to tracking and transparency means we don’t just tell you you’re having an impact. We show you, with GPS coordinates and photos of the exact project(s) you’ve helped fund.
We don’t just drop in, build a well and disappear. When we provide water for a community, we want the impact to be for good — which means we work closely with local partners, remaining invested in the integrity of projects for the long haul.
