Honduras is inextricably tied to the United States: almost 60% of its exports come to our country. Yet it is the second poorest nation in Central America, and nearly 65% of its population lives in poverty.

Although mining is fruitful in the mountains, the industry leaches heavy metal into major waterways – including the country's primary source of drinking water. You have to dig deep here to get to clean water, so we're installing wells and protecting water at the source.
