My birthday is around the corner. I'll be 30 in a few days and after recently going to Ethiopia with Charity Water I have become inspired by the work they are doing there bringing clean water to extremely poor families in rural Ethiopia.

Having been to Southern Africa, India and slums around Latin America before I thought I had seen poverty at its worst--but this situation in Ethiopia really is horrible. Water is the most basic thing we have and often take for granted and the poor kids miss out on so many things because they are spending hours a day walking for water.

This year I'm celebrating my birthday differently. I don't want presents or drinks. I want clean water.

The best part is that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects around the world, and when those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can't think of a better birthday gift.
