Imagine being on a dusty baseball field on a hot day. Sweat trickles down the side of your face. Finally, the inning is over and you come into the dugout to grab a drink of cold, thirst-quenching water without even thinking about it. It is such a relief to gulp that water and even pour it on your head to cool off!

We are used to being able to drink fresh, safe water whenever we want to. We have water fountains everywhere. We bathe in clean water, cool off in it, and we go to water parks and even play in it.

But some kids don’t have that luxury. They don't even have clean water to drink.

That’s why I’m raising money for charity: water.

What is charity: water? It’s an organization that builds wells in places around the world that don’t have access to clean water. (The video on the left explains it better than I can.)

I am asking people to donate to charity: water in place of giving me birthday presents on my birthday. I already am very fortunate to have everything I need, so I’m collecting donations to bring water projects to people who right now are forced to drink dirty, infested water that can make them sick and even kill them.

That’s what happened to the baby brother of one boy I know, Tariku Savage. Tariku is the grandson of close friends of our family, and his story is how I found out about charity: water. Before he was adopted, he lived in a part of Ethiopia where the only water around carried parasites that caused his baby brother’s death. He did a birthday project with charity: water to make a difference in the world, and he inspired me to do the same.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
