It's a new year and the beginning of a new decade. I want to start 2010 by making a difference. I want to give people life.
Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don't have access to safe, clean drinking water. That's one in eight of us. Some walk miles every day to get to the nearest source: a stagnant, parasite-infested stream or pond. They lug it back to their families. They suffer from diarrhea, worms and skin diseases because they can't wash themselves. 45,000 people die each day from waterborne illnesses.
I recently became aware of the desperate need for clean water in our world. It saddens me to know so many are sick and dying from drinking parasite infected water, and that the solution is really so inexpensive and so simple. God has put it on my heart to start this campaign to raise money for one water project in the next three months. I was drawn to charity: water because 100% of funds raised go directly to water projects (all administrative costs are fully funded by private donors), and they partner with various established organizations (Living Water International, Samaritan's Purse, etc.) to complete these projects in the most effective and efficient manner.
My mission is to raise $5,000 by April 3, 2010. 100% of every penny I raise will go directly to the water projects. And every project is "proved" using GPS technology and photos and put on Google Earth. Together, we'll be able to see the impact we've made.
I hope you'll partner with me in making a difference this year. Every donation counts, whether it's $5 or $500. Thanks for your support!
Happy Birthday to my good friends Jane (Feb 2) and Leesa (Feb 4)!!!
