Why The Rising is fundraising for clean water

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

The average water-starved person walks 4 miles every day carrying 40 pounds of water just to help their family survive.

On August 18th, 2018 we are going to walk these 4 miles in their shoes. To kick-off our annual Paint the City Orange event, we are hosting a water-walk. Those who have joined our fundraising team are asking for people to sponsor their participation walking 4 miles carrying 5 gallons (or 40 pounds) of water around a local Norfolk, Virginia track in the heat of summer. You can sponsor an individual or group listed below or simply sponsor the event because you want to help us help charity: water solve the water crisis!

Then, come and join us at Norview High School on August 18th to cheer-on the water-walk participants!

Many people around the world don’t have the luxury of clean water. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. More people have died from a lack of quality drinking water than from war. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

We started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help us!

Please donate to this campaign, join our team and come take part in the water walk -- anything you can give is a huge help!

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped!
