My birthday is almost here. I'm not usually excited about getting older, but this year I'm really thankful to have lived another happy, healthy year.

On my birthday, I know that I will enjoy a shower, fresh water to cool from a warm California day.

That which I take for granted, is denied to millions around the world.

So I decided to do my part to try change that: I'm asking everyone that I know to give the gift of water, helping me to raise $5500. For those who wonder... 55 is not my age but the combined age of my children. For providing clean water around the world is an expression of commitment to leave this world a better place for their generation.

Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.
