WE MADE OUR CHARITY:WATER GOAL. Thanks to everyone who has donated to our charity: water campaign! We are proud to say that we have already reached our goal updated goal of $1500, and that now thanks to all of your contributions, over 75 people will now have access to clean drinking water. This will allow the women and children to have time to focus on school, and to allow the economy in the regions they live in to thrive. Our campaign is set till the end of June, so we are raising the bar to $2200.
I (Michael) will be celebrating my 22nd year of life on May 6th, and one of my biggest birthday wishes is for these communities to have the clean water they need to thrive.
If you were to give me any gift, this gift is one I would desire and I pray that these communities would appreciate.
*******************************
There's a beautiful story in the Bible. In this story, a woman encounters Jesus by a well. She has experienced great brokenness, exclusion from her community, and she's dying for a drink. It is here that he offers her fresh, living water.
This water is so revitalizing and so powerful that he claims: "Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst-- not ever." [John 4]
We believe that this type of spiritual water that Jesus talks about is readily available. But very much connected to this is the daily, real, and present need of actual water for us to live, to thrive.
We are thankful for many things.
And clean drinking water is something that we enjoy and are blessed with each day.
As we were planning our wedding, we started to get more and more excited about all the goodies we could spend our resources on.
Then we learned the facts: people in Canada spend about $23,000 on average for a wedding. In the US, over $50 billion are spent annually on weddings. At the same time, about 800 million people in developing countries still don't have clean drinking water.
So we decided to celebrate our love by doing something different. Instead of dishes and furniture – which if you've been to our house we have tuns of – we're asking you to help give clean, safe drinking water to people in need.
Just $10 can change someone's life there, and 100% of the money we raise will directly fund charity: water projects in the field. When those projects are complete, we'll all feel better for the lives we changed together.
If you got any questions, concerns, or comments – please feel free to contact us.
Consider this our registry. Please celebrate our marriage by making a donation and participating in helping people and redeeming this world one piece at a time.
grace and peace be with you all,
Kristi and Michael
