Every year as my birthday approaches, I reflect about where I am, where I've been and where I want to go in my life. I often find myself sweating the small stuff. It's hard not to, right?

But the truth is, my first world problems are just that - first world problems. I'm thankful to be living a healthy life and to have made it well into the 30+ club. Many people aren't so lucky. Millions of kids around the world don't live to see their fifth birthday because they don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. We can help change that.

So this year, I'm giving up my birthday and asking everyone I know to donate to charity: water. Every penny (yes, 100%) of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.
