Why Lindsay Raye is fundraising for clean water

Hey all -
I was hoping this year for my birthday we can do something a bit different. I know not everyone has a lot of extra money but if we could all buy a couple less drinks, take a few less cabs, skip a dinner out, and donate $29 to charity: water we can make a big difference.
This charity means a lot to me, clean water is such a basic need and something we take for granted everyday. The average family here uses close to 400 gallons of water a day. The average family in areas affected by this issue are lucky if they get 5 to 10 gallons of unclean water.
Imagine needing to choose wether to wash your children's cloths or wash your face, because by doing both you won't have enough water to drink. On top of all of this the water you're using is so badly contaminated it can cause bad illness and death, but what choice do you have? Diseases from unsafe water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war!
Charity: water makes sure that 100% of what's donated goes right into their water projects. It's an amazing charity run by passionate people and I would love nothing more on my birthday then to help them keep helping people that really need it. For less money then we spend on bottled water in a month we can give a village of people clean water for a lifetime.
