Well, I have really felt like I've been 'nudged' by God over the past few months to do something in memory of my mom. There have been so many amazing things done in her memory over the past years, but this has just been weighing on my heart. As most of you know, my mom, Laura, passed away unexpectedly July 17, 2003 when me and my brother, Andy were away with a church mission trip. I have since looked back and know that God knew we needed to be away at the mission trip around such supportive people and incredible worship time during that moment and it was my mom and her giving spirit who got us involved with things like that and youth group in the first place. Every single memory I have of her stems around her generosity and love. She didn't know the word 'no' and would help whoever and where ever that she could. Whether it be spending practically an entire summer taking food to the homeless guy living behind Lotus Pier, or playing the piano for the kids in Sunday School, or helping out at schools and volunteering... her life was devoted to following Jesus and being his hands and feet...and for that I am eternally grateful. This year it will have been 10 years since she passed away, and I wanted to make sure that her legacy continued to live on in helping those around her. I remember learning about this organization (Charity Water) a few years ago, and was just drawn to it..because it is SUCH a basic need that we all take for granted..yet there are so many who don't have it. Then last year, I learned that you can do campaigns like this (shout out to Ryan Jones, my old classmate.. who did one and that's how I learned about this :) )

And the awesome thing about this organization is 100 percent of the funds go directly towards funding a water project!!

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, 5,000 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
