Something very special will be happening on May 4th. I will be turning 30! Coming up on my birthday has left me thinking about this year and the past 29 years I have been alive on this planet, and how fortunate I have been in each and every one of them. I have not once wanted for the basic necessities of life.
So - this is my wish for my 30th birthday. I would like to raise $1000 to give others the most basic but most important of necessities - clean drinking water. It is something I have always been able to take for granted.
As they say, water changes everything. Women and children around the world walk hours every day to collect water for their families. All of those hours add up. They add up to time lost in the classroom, time lost to care for their families, and time lost to pursue a career. They add up to hours spent vulnerable to the elements and to other worse dangers. And once they have collected the water, the water itself is often unsafe and sometimes even deadly - but what choice do they have?
Well, we have a choice. We can help. Just $20 can give a person access to clean drinking water.
The best part is that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects around the world, and when those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can't think of a better birthday gift.
Thank you!
Happy birthday :)
Happy Birthday Kim!
