On 15 January, I'm turning 40...there I said it.

At first blush, this seemed surreal and daunting and oh so quick to have come about...

But then I found out that millions of people don't live to see their 4th birthday let alone their 40th birthday. And why? Because they didn't have access to clean, safe water.

In saying goodbye to my flirty thirties I can look back in appreciation and respect for what I have achieved, who I have become and who has come into my life this decade.

So I'm not scared anymore to welcome my naughty forties with a self knowledge and awareness that will guide me safely through this next decade with abundance and love.

In fact, I'm celebrating my birthday like never before.

So if, perchance, you were ever inclined to choose a wee gift then I am asking instead for something that will make my heart swell further with love and gratitude.

I'm asking instead for $40.00...

I have chosen my friends at charity:water as I know that every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater wells in developing nations. Even better, every dollar is "proved" when the projects are complete, and photos and GPS coordinates are posted using Google Earth.

My goal is to raise $2000 for my birthday, January 15 2010. $250 means two families of six can get clean water so I am seeking to assist eight families of six which gets us up near 100 people...
