Update: So far, I have raised $3,603 for hits 2 h2o!! That is about 106 lives changed FOR LIFE!! I subtracted this from my $10,000 goal so I could continue the campaign into the 2021 season. God Bless and Go Gators!

The conviction
A big part of anything we do in life is “why” we do it. Why do I get up early? Why do I put up with struggles and hard times? Why do I keep going? My “why” has always been to play for the man upstairs and shine his light, but I feel like I fall short sometimes. So this year I want to add a new dynamic to my game that will allow me to definitively share His love. I want to use the tools God gave me to create change, rather than just talk about it. I want to live out what I preach. So, this year I’ll be using outside motivation from a charity in great need of our help.
The Charity
Recently my best friend sent me an empowering video where I watched a man with a dream give hope to the hopeless, strength to the weak, and water to the thirsty and ill. Scott Harrison created charity: water; an organization who’s mission is to bring clean drinking water to the 663 million people worldwide who don’t have it. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. It shook me to see how many people around the world struggle for something we take for granted every single day. So I’ve decided to do something.
The Pledge
In my 2021 season, I will be donating $1 for every single, $2 for every double, $3 for every triple, and $5 for every home run that I hit.
The amazing thing about charity: water is that 100% of all donations go directly towards wells and projects to bring water to remote villages around the world. When these projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
The Challenge
I’m challenging all of my current/former teammates along with any other baseball players who see this, Florida Gator fans, Oakland Athletics fans, and anyone else who feels a strong conviction to support this cause to make the pledge and donate. You can donate to my campaign based on your season statistics, by matching my donation, or by donating any amount of money whenever you’d like. My very ambitious goal is to raise $10,000, which would provide clean water to 333 people. God calls us to love everybody, all the time. Its time to come together to create change.
