I love interior design.

I like to pick paint colors, choose textiles for furniture, combine the patterns of rugs and pillows and wallpaper...I could sit and do it for hours every day. In fact, I went to school and paid someone to tell me I HAD to do it.

But at the same time I have wondered how I can devote my career to making people's homes pretty. Shouldn't I be doing something more meaningful? Like feeding the hungry or volunteering in disaster zones or bringing vaccines to children in third world countries. Why did God gave me a passion for creativity and art and beauty when millions of people don't even have access to clean water? How can I pick out silk pillows and exotic hardwood flooring when I know so many people have such basic needs?

Then one day in church, my pastor said something I have heard a thousand times but suddenly it sounded so much clearer. "We are blessed to be a blessing."

I think I know a way to use my blessings and even the blessings of others to help change the lives of people whose stories have been calling out to me for so long.

I haven't quite dove into the world of interior design yet. For now I am a stay-at-home mom of two beautiful little boys. Millions of women and children have to walk hours each day to get water from muddy ponds and rivers. And much of that water is infested with bacteria, parasites or leeches.

Only $20 can give someone access to clean, safe water. My goal is to raise $1000. charity: water will use 100% of the money to directly fund the water projects in the field. Even better, when the projects are complete, they'll show me just where our money went. That's right -- we'll be able to see the GPS coordinates, photos and other details about the community we've impacted!

For those of you who don't need any help with your homes but, like me, have always wanted to be a part of a cause like this, please consider donating. II Corithians 9:11 says that we are made rich so that we can be generous.
