On August 25th I turned 1, and my big brother Jack turned 3 on September 17th.

We decided it would be really fun to do something special to celebrate and are so grateful to those who helped us...we now want to continue the giving into the Christmas season.

Mom and Dad told us about this great group called Charity: Water, they work really hard to get water to the people who need it most, in developing nations.

Almost a billion people are without clean, safe drinking water...that's 1 in 8 people. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses...Jack and I want to help those kids!

Our church, Eastlake Community Church, has partnered with Charity: Water to do great things and we want to be a part of that. Four Septembers ago, Charity: Water had a crazy idea. They asked their friends to give up their birthdays and ask for donations instead of gifts, then used 100% of the money raised to build water projects. Every year, it got bigger. They've now helped over a million people get clean water.

Jack and I are asking everyone to please help us reach our goal of $5,000 - that's enough to build a fresh water well in a village of 250 people! Once that well is complete we will be able to share with you information on where it was built and even show you a pictures and GPS coordinates of that area on Google Earth with a plaque reading Jack and Sam's Well, so cool!
