My birthday is almost here. I'm not usually excited about getting older, but this year I'm really thankful to have lived another happy, healthy year.

Every year as my birthday approaches I ask myself how I should celebrate.

This year I decided to celebrate in a completely different way, and I'm really excited about it.
You see, if we look at what I did in the past, I probably would have arranged a party. Though people would have tried to ignore the invitation :), they would have come anyway because I would be celebrating on a holiday + @ some fancy club.
The party would have cost ~ $20 – alcohol, food and travel.
This year, though, I have something different in mind: Instead of arranging a party or celebrating at a local bar\restaurant, I would like to donate the money to an amazing project that provides clean drinking water for people in need.

And I’d like your help to raise even more money.

Question: If I would have invited you to drink beer with me on my birthday – would you have joined me?
If the answer to this question is Yes –
So let's face it, two beers + tip is close to $20, so please donate the money instead.
If the answer to this question is No –
Remember that it's not for me, but for people who really need drinking water.

The best part: 100% of all donations go directly toward water projects. And charity: water will show us where and how every dollar we raise ends up helping in the field. We'll see GPS coordinates, photos and details about the communities we've impacted.

So as much as I like celebrating good times with friends, providing fresh drinking water for people in need is going to feel a whole lot better.
