To mark the 6th anniversary of our collective friendship we wanted to do something awesome. Our birthdays are always around the same time so we figured it should be birthday related. But every year Talya is out of town on her bday, Aderet's bday is on some ridiculous day like Yom Kippur, and by the time Eliana's bday rolls around on October 22, and we have already started the next round of bdays, no one cares anymore. So forget parties, presents, dinners, and drinks. We are doing something BIGGER and WAAAAY BETTER.

WE ARE BUILDING A WELL!!!

Or so we hope. But we need your help. Heres the deal:
The single greatest cause of extreme poverty in developing nations is lack of access to clean water. Without it, there is no productive agriculture, nutrition, sanitation and health! There are almost 1 BILLION people on the planet who lack access to clean and safe drinking water- thats 1 in 8 people! Every day 4,100 children die of water-related diseases. Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war and guns. Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease. But get this- these disease are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation! Water is also a Womens Issue. In just one day, more than 200 MILLION hours of women’s time is consumed for the most basic of human needs — collecting water for domestic use. The time spent walking and resulting diseases keep them from school, work and taking care of their families. When girls are left uneducated they have extremely limited earning potential, which perpetuates the cycle of poverty!

This is a lot to take in but its an important issue and we could really use your help! The best part about this project is that even if we dont reach our goal every $ helps! Just $20 can provide one person with access to a clean water project.Thats pretty cool if you ask us.
