Every day I wake up and pour myself a nice tall glass of water. Next, I take a shower. After that I often pour water into my coffee pot or put some on the stove for tea. Throughout the day I keep drinking water. I wash dishes and clothes with water. I cook with water. I wash my hands in it, and I even use it when I use a toilet. It's always close by. It fuels the quality of my life.

Most of us depend heavily on water in our daily lives. Perhaps it's true that we have had this luxury so long that we underestimate its value to us, or we at least don't think very much about what it adds to our lives.

Nealy 1 billion people live without clean water. Many of them drink contaminated water that causes illnesses and even death. Many mothers lose their babies this way. On top of that, people are unable to attend school and jobs because of the time it takes to find, collect and carry water back to their homes for their families. The water fetching is mostly done by women and children.

But this is not a hopeless situation! Charity: water is working hard to raise money & create water access for people who currently lack it. All we need to do is donate what we can to help. As little as $20 provides water access to one person.
