Getting older. It's something about which I've always been proud, and this year that feeling is compounded exponentially since I'm donating my digits to a cause. I mean, at 44 some women might be tempted to lie about their age, but in proffering my birthday you see straight up how old I am; but it also means that the suggested donation levels are higher. I'm okay with that.

I've proudly supported many friends in recent weeks and months in their endeavors on this front. Now it is my turn to step up and do the same.

I live in the Bay Area, surrounded by water (as seen in the shot above taken from Highway 1 near Stinson Beach). Of course salt water being non-potable that doesn't really speak the issue here, but even so when I turn on the tap - the water I get is clean, safe and even in drought season I know that I shall not want. I don't have to worry about shortage. I don't have to worry about disease. I live in the lap of luxury, yet millions do not.

So help a sister out. Forget about celebrating my birthday and think of it as saving lives, because that's what you're doing.

Let's save some lives.
