Over the past few weeks people have been asking me what I want for my birthday. When asked this question I think for a few minutes and respond 'I have no idea.' The more I thought about this, the more I realized that this life is really not about me at all. If I can't even think of something I WANT for my birthday, let alone something I "NEED" for my birthday, why would I even ask people to give me anything?

So this year, I'm giving my birthday up. I'm turning 22 years old, and instead of asking for gifts, I'm asking for you to make a difference, and make a donation. It's not going to me, though. ALL of it is going to build freshwater projects for people in developing nations. A billion people in the world are living without clean water - but how much are they really living? Millions contract deadly diseases from contaminated water. 30,000 people will die this week alone.

My birthday wish this year is not for more gifts I don't need; or even want; it's to give clean and safe drinking water to some of the billion living without it. I want to make my birthday matter this year; please join me. Give $1. Give $100. Give what you can. Let's surpass my goal. There are so many people in this world that live day to day without basic needs, and instead of just sitting around in our comfortable lives feeling sorry for them; WE can do something about it.
